UMass Vet Ryan Mosesso Trying To Lead OL
Redshirt senior Ryan Mosesso says he believes in this year's squad.
AMHERST, Mass. - Few people - and apparently no players - have been inside the UMass Football program longer than Ryan Mosesso.
“I believe I'm the longest-tenured player,” the redshirt senior offensive lineman from Marshfield said after Monday’s practice.
“No one knows this place like I do. I try to take that with me every day and lead this group and get to where we want to go.”
The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder has a pretty good idea of where that is and believes the changes that have been made this offseason can help him get there.
“It's all new,” said Mosesso. “This coaching staff, they're building a new culture, so it's kind of new for me as well.
“Just getting this culture together and getting this team together and go get that bowl game.”
Mosesso has enjoyed adjusting to new head coach Joe Harasymiak’s culture, new offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian’s system and new offensive line coach Kurt Anderson’s style.
“It's been smooth,” said Mosesso. “(Bajakian) and Coach Anderson do a great job of giving us small details and small details get you to where you need to be. They're big on that.”
Anderson is in charge of leading the offensive line unit, but it’s clear he also gives the vets some ownership as well.
“He's big on details,” Mosesso said of Anderson. “He wants you to work as hard as possible. Details and work hard. It will get you far.”
Mosesso was fired up about this past Saturday’s scrimmage, their first of camp.
“It was a game-like situation, so we had fun out there,” he said. “Just every day we're working to get better and better.”
He’s confident in his position group, his offense and his team.
“I love this group. I'm very excited. I think we're going to go far this year.”
