UMass Hosting Several Top Recruiting Targets Today
The Minutemen will have multiple key recruits on campus for today's conference opener.
Recruiting never stops…but it certainly surges at times.
With UMass opening MAC play on Saturday, it looks like the Minutemen are also beginning one such surge.
UMass will host several recruits for today’s game against Western Michigan, including multiple commits and several high-priority targets.
A strong showing against the Broncos would certainly be a plus, but a win wouldn’t guarantee anything with any of the visitors and a loss wouldn’t eliminate the Minutemen from any of the races either.
What’s most important is the prospects feel comfortable in the area, on campus, around the players and with the staff.
Perhaps most importantly, head coach Joe Harasymiak, his assistants and the recruiting staff in Amherst needs to illustrate a vision the recruits will find appealing. Again, that vision would be a lot clearer with a win.
Harasymiak has repeatedly talked about the importance of keeping the 2026 recruiting class, which currently features 20 verbal commits, together. The Minutemen will try to add a couple pieces here and there, but the bulk of recruiting with current seniors will be about hanging onto the players they’ve already received commitments from. Getting those guys on campus and around each other as much as possible will be crucial to that effort and this weekend is one more step in that direction.
Looking further down the road, it’s obvious UMass isn’t going to be afraid of going after kids who have Power-4 potential. Several of the prospects coming up this weekend either have serious interest from Power-4 programs or already have offers from such schools.
Here’s a look at some of the key prospects who are expected on campus today:
