UMass Edge Defender CJ Amobi

The Minutemen have added an important piece to their future defense

Pennsylvania edge defender CJ Amobi has publicly announced his commitment to UMass.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior also received offers from Air Force, Army, Bryant and Cincinnati before deciding to choose UMass.

The Minutemen officially offered back on Jan. 8.

UMass defensive line coach Nyeem Wartman did an in-home visit with Amobi on May 20.

Amobi followed that up with an official visit exactly a month later on June 20.

He is a native of Drexel Hill, where he goes to Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School.

He has a remarkable GPA of 5.17.
