Regarding the comment on the podcast about attending away games. I live in Orlando, (hi Rene!) and have gone to most of the games played below the Mason Dixon line. I am currently 0 for 15. However I still show up because it’s important to have a presence. Unfortunately, most of the time, except for family members, there are very few UMass fans there. I feel that the Alumni Department/ Athletic department should do more to encourage fans by having tailgates/ get together. We did it for the U Florida game and the USC game 10 years ago. I even attempted to hand out UMass car magnets, not the puny ones on line but good sized magnets like the ones you see at the big schools. After I handed out 25 at the Texas A and M game, I ended up picking up a dozen that were left behind.
Mark Simpson, UMass ‘80. That’s my truck tag # by the way. 407-716-8290.
Dan brought up Jerome Bledsoe. I believe his situation was identical to Rene's. Bad ankle injury in high school and Notre Dame backed off and he also came to Umass.
