Reports | UMass OC Headed To Michigan State
UMass offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian is headed to East Lansing according to multiple reports.
UMass offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian is leaving the program after one season to go to Michigan State, according to multiple reports.
Bajakian, who served as Minutemen offensive coordinator during the 2025 season, is expected to take the quarterbacks coaching position in East Lansing, marking another move in a long career that has spanned both the college and NFL levels.
His departure leaves UMass with an opening at offensive coordinator as the program continues to shape its staff following head coach Joe Harasymiak’s first season in Amherst.
Before arriving at UMass, Bajakian spent four seasons at Northwestern from 2020–23, serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Pat Fitzgerald, who was hired as the Spartans’ new head coach earlier this month. Bajakian also briefly held an interim offensive coordinator role at Utah in 2024.
Kurt Anderson, who served as offensive line coach for the Minutemen last season, has taken the same job at Boston College. Reports earlier in the week also listed quarterbacks coach Drew Belcher as a strong candidate for the offensive coordinator job at Tennessee Tech.
No word yet on how UMass plans to replace Bajakian or adjust its offensive staff moving forward.
UMass’ quarterback room is pretty bare at the moment.
The Minutemen started three different quarterbacks throughout the 2025 season and two - AJ Hairston and Grant Jordan - have already announced plans to enter the Transfer Portal while the third - Brandon Rose - is expected to do the same, especially now, given his connection to UMass was through the time he spent with Bajakian at Utah.
