Here’s a snippet from this week’s Flagship Pod with Rene Ingoglia and Christian McCollum, which will be published in its entirety on Wednesday morning.
During his press conference at the start of the week, head coach Joe Harasymiak encouraged people to go back and watch the tape on a key UMass possession late in the loss to Buffalo, so we did just that.
Agree or disagree with the exact playcalls on that crucial possession, the review at least provides an understanding of the strategy behind them. Harasymiak didn’t offer excuses as much as explanations and the video supports those explanations.
If you are an ESPN+ subscriber, you can go back and watch the plays for yourself HERE
But, Rene & Christian also break down where we believe UMass erred by not beginning to milk the clock sooner.
We published a full analysis of that on Sunday, which you can check out below
Wasted Opportunities To Waste Clock Cost UMass
AMHERST, Mass. - The problem with UMass’ final full drive in the 28-21 loss to Buffalo on Saturday wasn’t the incomplete pass on third down that stopped the clock. If anything, the Minutemen should have been more aggressive in throwing the ball on that series.
