BREAKING | 2027 OL GaVin English Commits To UMass
The Minutemen landed a major piece of its 2027 recruiting class with Massachusetts offensive lineman GaVin English.
GaVin English has made it official.
The 2027 Massachusetts offensive lineman announced Wednesday morning on Twitter that he has committed to UMass.
“I’m blessed to say that I COMMITTED to @UMassFootball,” English wrote. “I’m so thankful for this opportunity!”
The 6-foot-4, 284-pounder from Springfield Central High School had been trending toward Amherst since returning from Junior Day earlier this winter, when he spent extended time inside the program.
UMass offered early in the process and stayed consistent. English also held an offer from Monmouth among others, but the Minutemen positioned themselves as the clear front-runner following his most recent visit.
During that trip, he spent significant time with offensive line coach Brian White and head coach Joe Harasymiak, getting a closer look at how the staff structures development and daily life inside the program.
English came away impressed with the balance between football and academics and the energy from the coaching staff, particularly in the offensive line room. The organization inside the facility and the message about building something sustainable resonated.
The Springfield native also watched former Central standouts Pop Watson and Joe Griffin transfer back home to UMass this offseason, another signal that staying close to home could align with long-term opportunity.
Now, that alignment has turned into a commitment.
English becomes an early building block in the Minutemen’s 2027 class and a significant in-state addition for Harasymiak and his staff as they continue to prioritize keeping top Massachusetts talent home.

If it's a joke and ridiculous, why are you reading it? I've read it over a few times and didn't see where the article left an impression that he's a 5 star. What he is is a recruit who comes from a HS a half hour down the road that has been pumping out high 3 and 4 stars for sometime now. Coach Joe (and many others) have wanted to break through in Massachusetts recruiting . Who knows, maybe he's a project. Coach him up and who knows where he's at in 2 years. If the kid went to another school and was a star in 2 years people would be bitching that we can't get players from our own state. Anyone who has watched Umass football the last couple of years knows that you can't have to many O lineman. Christian and staff, keep up the good work.
This site is so ridiculous. It has zero credibility. No matter whom UMass signs, Minuteman Command acts as if they are a five star recruit. Gavin English is fine, but he is certainly not anything special. Glad UMass beat out URI and Monmouth in the recruiting process. What a joke.
