BREAKING | 2026 WR Kai Owens Commits To UMass
2026 Illinois receiver Kai Owens has announced his commitment to the Minutemen.
UMass’ first true official visit weekend under head coach Joe Harasymiak appears to be an extremely successful one by any measure.
The Minutemen hosted a dozen prospects in the 2026 recruiting class in Amherst for official visits and we’re told multiple players offered their verbal commitments to Harasymiak and the staff while on campus.
We anticipate these prospects will go public with their commitments soon and we’ll let you know as they do.
Illinois receiver Kai Owens is the latest to announce his pledge to UMass publicly.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder chose the Minutemen over offers from MAC rivals like Toledo, Ball State, Miami-Ohio and Eastern Michigan among others. He was also receiving interest from schools like Wisconsin, Michigan State, Illinois, Minnesota and Penn State earlier in the process.
The Carmel Catholic High School standout adds some Midwestern flavor to the UMass roster.
Owens caught 23 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns as a junior.
Stay tuned to Minuteman Command for more on Owen’s commitment and the rest of the huge official visit weekend.
